Spirit of the League Awards

The Spirit of the League Awards Luncheon recognizes individuals who have overcome significant challenges yet have achieved success while giving back to others and the community. The League also recognizes people we serve who have embraced Urban League programs and services to achieve their goals and dreams and partners who support our work. By honoring these individuals, our goal is to inspire people who may be facing difficult times, particularly now in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We want our community to be encouraged and motivated to reach their highest human potential.

The featured honorees share their compelling stories of triumph over obstacles, and how they took control of their lives, to make positive sustainable changes and support their community. Past celebrity honorees include Tyler Perry, Mo’Nique, Soledad O’Brien, Terri J. Vaughn, David Banner, KeKe Palmer, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Dwight Howard, Keri Hilson, and Rashan Ali.
